Production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) has resumed at Melkoya near Hammerfest after a shutdown of just over two weeks.

BP Norge AS was granted expanded consent for the use of the Borgland Dolphin semisub on the Skarv field. Originally, the consent, granted in November 2009, included the drilling of 11 production wells and an exploration well in the period from mid-December 2009 to late April 2011.

An improved global financial climate means that the designs and planning for a new oil pipeline to Bahrain from Saudi Arabia will appear later this year after an earlier delay, according to a senior Bahraini official.

RAK Petroleum Public Company Limited, the oil and gas exploration and production company, announced that Bijan Mossavar-Rahmani has been named Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer.  Mr. Mossavar-Rahmani was previously Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors and Managing Director. He succeeds Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair who stepped down after four years as the Board Chairman.
